Patch Programs

Girls love to earn badges and Journey awards that they can display on their uniforms, but that’s not all – there are patches too!

Patches can celebrate a troop activity, like a trip to the skating rink or a sleep over in the leader’s basement. Girls can also earn patches by completing programs unique to our Council: explore STEM, learn basic skills needed for first-time outdoor exploring or experience Courage through Susie Stephens. Upon completion of the program, girls can purchase the patch from our Shop. Girls from any Council are welcome to participate and order their patches from our Council Shop.

A Susie Forest Patch

The Susie Forest Patch Program was developed in honor of Susie Stephens. Susie was born in April of 1965 and she was a Girl Scout in our very own GSEWNI council. Susie participated in many activities including a trip to Japan with her troop. Her experience in Girl Scouting led her down many interesting paths in life. Susie’s life was cut short in March of 2002 when she was killed crossing a street in a crosswalk. The “Susie Forest” patch represents the movement her mother, Nancy MacKerrow, has started to plant trees in Spokane in honor of her daughter. Nancy’s goal – to have a whole forest of Susie Trees.

To complete the requirements for earning our Council's Own "Susie Forest" patch, download the Susie Forest Guide and participate in the program! The Susie Forest Patch Program can be completed by Girl Scouts of any age!

Once the program is complete, purchase your patch online or in-store at our council shop!

STEM Patch

STEM – A Patch Program
Think about it: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are everywhere! The color spectrum is a science and your car and computer are constantly changing with new technology. Your house is the work of an engineer, and math includes knowing how much change you will get at the store. It appears as though STEM is all around you, so you might as well embrace it!

This STEM Patch Program was created by Girl Scout Junior Troop 3659 from Spokane, WA as part of their Girl Scout Bronze Award.

This patch has been approved from council to be an official EARNED patch that can be worn on the front of the vest or sash. To complete the requirements for earning our  Council's Own STEM patch, download the S.T.E.M Guide  and participate in the program! Girls at any age level can participate!
