Learn the Skills of Basketball – Girl Scout Style!

Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho has partnered with Ballers Youth Sports Club to provide girls in grades 2-5 a unique opportunity to learn the basic skills of basketball. Experienced coaches will teach you how to dribble, shoot, and pass the ball as you participate in fun scrimmages. In addition, you'll also learn the advantages of working on a team with other Girl Scouts!

BONUS: Those who participate in the program will also have the opportunity to play on the Girl Scouts "Lady Ballers" basketball team during Hoopfest 2018 (and potentially the YMCA Basketball League next fall, too!)

·      The first Camp Development class in on December 9, 2017.

·      The season will run January through June, with practices 2x/month at the Spokane Program Center from 9:00am – 11:00am.

·      Registration is $15 and includes a t-shirt, fun patch, and team entry fee to 2018 Hoopfest**. 

*Girls must be currently registered Girl Scouts to participate.

**For those participating in Hoopfest, additional uniform costs will apply.

ABOUT THE COACH: Tommy Williams has coached youth sports (AAU/YMCA basketball and SYSA/YMCA Football) for over 20 years. In 2016, he was named the YMCA Volunteer Coach of the Year. Coach Williams has six boys, whom are the reason he began his coaching career. He played college football for Eastern Washington University, as well the Canadian Football League for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for one year before breaking his ankle in the first game of the season. Tommy earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at EWU and later completed his master’s in Education (Athletic Administration) at WSU. Coach Williams is also the lead trainer for the Athletic Risk Management Certification Program, which assists coaches in becoming knowledgeable about the legal duties and liabilities of coaching youth sports.
